Medal for the Defense of Odessa, Var. 1, 1940s. In very fine to excellent condition - one of the better examples we've handled in recent years. Comes on original wartime suspension. With only some 30,000 ever awarded, an original Odessa Medal in such a nice condition is a very uncommon find.

Documents for Medals for the Defense of Odessa and Sevastopol, awarded to a Navy Petty Officer. Both certificates were issued on the same day in March 1944 and are in outstanding condition. A very uncommon group to an unlikely survivor of two early WW2 campaigns.

Document for a Medal for the Defense of Odessa, awarded in September 1944 to a Sergeant Major. The recipient was studying at an officer school at the time, but the available archival document shows that he took part in the defense of Odessa as a reconnaissance squad leader. His regiment was successfully evacuated from Odessa at the end of the siege. Later that year, it took part in the amphibious landing in Crimea and in 1942-43, in the battle of Stalingrad (as part of the 64th Army). The document is good condition. Comes with a copy of the award decree for the Defense of Odessa Medal.

Medal for the Defense of Odessa Award Document issued in Oct. 1944 to a retired Army officer. Interestingly, it states the rank he had at the time of his discharge from the military in 1942, long obsolete by 1944. In fair to good condition, will display nicely despite the damage along the fold lines.

Award Document for a Medal for the Defense of Sevastopol, Dec. 1944 issue to the skipper of a Black Sea Fleet minesweeper. During the defense of the city, his crew on numerous occasions took part in successfully repelling German air attacks on larger Soviet ships and was awarded with an Order of the Red Banner. Later in the war, he lost his leg in combat but remained on active duty in the navy until at least 1951. The document is in good condition. Comes with a photocopy of the award commendation for the 1945 Order of the Red Banner and brief service information from the Russian military archives.

Document for a Capture of Berlin Medal, issued in Dec. 1945 to a high-level political officer of the Soviet Army of Occupation Army in Central Europe. Hand- signed by a Lt. General. During the Battle of Berlin, the recipient of the award document specialized in propaganda aimed at degrading morale of the German troops. The document comes with copies of the award commendations for his three wartime decorations from the Russian archives.

Document for a Capture of Berlin Medal, issued in Oct. 1945 to a Guards Lt. Colonel, commander of a dispatch aviation regiment of the 3rd Guards Tank Army. The most unusual document to an aviator issued by the command of a tank army! The recipient died less than a year later while serving with the Soviet occupation army in Austria, probably due to an accident. The document is in excellent condition. It comes with copies of the award commendations for two of the recipient's wartime decorations including an Order of Alexander Nevsky.

An exceptionally rare and interesting document, despite its far less than perfect condition!

Document for Victory over Germany Medal, early type with red leatherette cover. Hand-signed by a Lieutenant General, Chief of the Main Communication Center of the Narkomat of Defense. The document was issued on 23 June 1945, likely for the Victory Parade in Moscow that took place on the following day. Extremely uncommon piece in excellent condition.
