A superb example through-and-through, practically impossible to upgrade. This "Voenkomat" version of the medal is far less common than most wartime issues.

This medal is one of the post-war issues that were typically awarded by a Voenkomat (Military Commissariat) at the veteran's current place of residence. The reasons for the late issue could vary, but in most instances, "Voenkomat" medals were catch-up awards to civilians who worked in the city for much of the siege or took part in its defense but got somehow overlooked by the authorities during WW2 and in the immediate post-war years.
