Medal for the Capture of Koenigsberg, Variation 1, circa 1945-1947.
In brass; measures 32.1 mm wide; weighs 17.2 g excluding the suspension and connecting link.
Excellent condition. The medallion shows almost no visible wear: there are no edge knocks, significant scratches, or dings; the raised details of the artwork and lettering are extremely well preserved and crisp. A good amount of the original "gilt" mint luster is visible in recessed areas on both sides. The obverse has just a singly tiny oxidation spot, while the reverse has a couple of small areas of very light tarnish, none of it detractive in the least.

The medal comes on an original brass suspension of late 1940s vintage. The ribbon is old, likely original to the medal; although somewhat faded and showing slight wear along the edges, it adds a great amount of character to the medal. Overall, a very attractive example of the Koenigsberg Medal.
