Medal for the Defense of Caucasus, Var. 2 (U-shaped ring), late 1940s - early 50s. This version of the Caucasus medal is harder to find than either the wartime Var. 1 or even the relatively scarce "Voenkomat" Var. 3. A very attractive example in very fine to excellent condition. Comes with original suspension.
Document for a Medal for the Defense of Odessa, awarded in
September 1944 to a Sergeant Major. The recipient was studying
at an officer school at the time, but the available archival
document shows that he took part in the defense of Odessa
as a reconnaissance squad leader. His regiment was
successfully evacuated from Odessa at the end of the siege.
Later that year, it took part in the amphibious landing in
Crimea and in 1942-43, in the battle of Stalingrad (as part of
the 64th Army). The document is good condition. Comes with a
copy of the award decree for the Defense of Odessa Medal.
Medal for the Defense of Odessa Award Document issued in Oct. 1944 to a retired Army officer. Interestingly, it states the rank he had at the time of his discharge from the military in 1942, long obsolete by 1944. In fair to good condition, will display nicely despite the damage along the fold lines.
Award Document for a Medal for the Defense of Sevastopol, Dec. 1944 issue to the
skipper of a Black Sea Fleet minesweeper. During the defense of the city, his crew
on numerous occasions took part in successfully repelling German air attacks on
larger Soviet ships and was awarded with an Order of the Red Banner. Later in the
war, he lost his leg in combat but remained on active duty in the navy until at
least 1951. The document is in good condition. Comes with a photocopy of the award
commendation for the 1945 Order of the Red Banner and brief service information
from the Russian military archives.
Document for a Capture of Berlin Medal, issued in Dec. 1945 to a high-level
political officer of the Soviet Army of Occupation Army in Central Europe. Hand-
signed by a Lt. General. During the Battle of Berlin, the recipient of the award
document specialized in propaganda aimed at degrading morale of the German troops.
The document comes with copies of the award commendations for his three wartime
decorations from the Russian archives.
Document for a Capture of Berlin Medal, issued in Oct. 1945 to a Guards Lt.
Colonel, commander of a dispatch aviation regiment of the 3rd Guards Tank Army.
The most unusual document to an aviator issued by the command of a tank army!
The recipient died less than a year later while serving with the Soviet
occupation army in Austria, probably due to an accident. The document is in
excellent condition. It comes with copies of the award commendations for two of
the recipient's wartime decorations including an Order of Alexander Nevsky.
Award Document for a Medal for Victory over Germany, awarded on 9 May 1946 (first anniversary of the V-Day as celebrated in the USSR) to a Sergeant in Romanian Army. The document was issued by the Allied Control Committee in Romania and has facsimile signature of the Deputy Chairman of the Committee Tank Corps Col. General Susaykov. An exceptionally rare and interesting document, despite its far less than perfect condition!
Document for Victory over Germany Medal, early type with red leatherette cover.
Hand-signed by a Lieutenant General, Chief of the Main Communication Center
of the Narkomat of Defense. The document was issued on 23 June 1945, likely for
the Victory Parade in Moscow that took place on the following day. Extremely
uncommon piece in excellent condition.
