Both sides are extremely well-preserved, completely free of any wear visible to the naked eye and have only a few microscopic contact marks that can be found only under a 10x magnification. The details of Stalin's bas-relief and lettering are perfect and exceptionally crisp. There is a light tarnish to the raised portions of the bas-relief, at the lettering and on the reverse that adds interest

There is a light tarnish to the raised portions of the bas-relief, at the lettering and on the reverse that adds interest and is not detractive, while the original "gilt" mint luster is present and very bright throughout in recessed areas.
