Medal of Honored Developer of Science and Technology of
RSFSR, 1985 - 1995 issue. In outstanding condition. Awarded
for technology-oriented research as opposed to similar title
of Honored Developer (or "Advancer") of Science. The medal was
established near the end of the Soviet era, and only a small
number were ever issued.
Award Table Medal in bronze to a Winner of the 1985 Contest of Student Science
Papers on Social Studies, History of the VLKSM, and History of the International
Youth Movement. Rather than being a purely commemorative medal, this unusual piece
was bestowed exclusively upon the laureates of the contest and only on one
occasion. Just 300 were ever produced. In excellent condition.
Institute of International Relationships (IMO) graduate badge, pin back version,
circa late 1970s-1980s. The school was an elite establishment whose graduates went
on to occupy coveted positions in the Soviet Diplomatic Corps. Many graduates were
KGB and GRU officers slated for service abroad. In very fine to excellent
condition.
Engineering Institute Graduate Badge, c. 1970s. Leningrad mint version in brass w. wire attachment of the engineering emblem. This badge was issued to graduates of most Soviet "technical" institutes (higher level colleges) preparing engineering cadres for various industries incl. machine building, railroad transportation, mining etc. EXC condition.
Nauka ("Science") Sports Club Membership Badge, screw back miniature version,
circa late 1940s - early 1950s. Organized in 1936, this DSO ("Volunteer Sports
Society") was the sports club of the trade union of scientists and employees of
higher education. It was absorbed by the DSO Burevestnik during the reorganization
of Soviet sprots movement in 1957. Excellent condition.
Centennial of Birth of Ivan Michurin, Table Medal in bronze with Original Case of
Issue, 1955. Celebrating life of a legendary Russian botanist whose legacy was
used to prop up a fraudulent "progressive" biological theory - and set back
genetics research in the USSR by decades. This is one of the earliest and most
scarce of Soviet table medals, with only 570 ever made. Near mint
condition.
