In excellent condition. The enamel and details are perfect. The screw post is full length, nearly 10.5 mm measured from the reverse of the badge. Comes with a period screw plate showing the logo of the Pobeda Factory in Moscow.

The plaque shows an abbreviation "АОН при ЦК КПСС" (Academy of Social Sciences at [run by] the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union). In a place ostensibly not run by a communist party such sciences could be referred to as liberal arts. The academy gave necessary credentials to the "scientific" wing of the top party apparatchiks. It also prepared college and university professors to teach subjects such as Scientific Communism, Economy of Socialism, or Scientific Atheism (Even the mere names of those disciplines were painfully oxymoronic, so teaching them required big dose of cynicism and virtuosity - not merely bullet-proof record of party loyalty. An added bonus to those who got the coveted teaching jobs was that they were occasionally allowed access to information sources hidden from the masses - e.g. western media or Russian history books published before the Bolshevik revolution.
