Medal for Valor, Type 2 Var. 3 (unnumbered Cold War version), late 1940s - early
1990s. Unlike the Combat Service Medal, Valor Medal (aka Medal for Bravery) was
never issued simply for length of service. During the 1980s, quite a few of them
were awarded for service in Afghanistan. In excellent condition and includes
original suspension in brass.
Medal "From the Grateful Afghan People". In excellent condition.
Honorary Badge "To a Warrior - Internationalist", Leningrad Mint version, 1980s
issue. In very fine to excellent condition.
Unissued award certificate for the Warrior Internationalist badge, printed in
1988. Comes complete with the large red folder. Shows facsimile signature of
Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev.

80s.

Badge for Selfless Combat Effort, Turkestan Military District, 1980s. Excellent condition.
60th Anniversary of the Moskovskiy Border Guard Unit,
commemorative badge, 1992. Part of the former Soviet Central
Asian Border Guard District (KSAPO), this unit remained on the
Tajik-Afghan border following the dissolution of the USSR and
was constantly engaged in action against infiltrating Muslim
militants and narcotics smugglers. Although a post-USSR issue,
the badge is very much Soviet in its design and execution.
GRU Spetsnaz Winter Uniform, dated 1977 / 76. Includes heavy tunic in olive
drab with additional separate button-in padded liner and tsygeika lamb fur collar,
plus matching pair of pants, also with detachable liner. Size 52-5 (Medium /
Large). This is a rare, very early issue of the winter uniform which was later
modified to become a well known Afghanka. Both the jacket and pants are in
superb unissued condition, with manufacturer's tags.
Plasch-Palatka Rain Cape / Tent Sheet for enlisted man, dated 1985.
Excellent unissued condition.
Military Officer Rain Cape w. Hood, dated 1986. Made in durable rubberized
fabric, lighter and more water-proof than a typical Soviet EM's plashch-
palatka. Excellent condition, apparently never used.
Air Force Warrant Officer Service Visor Hat, dated 1981. Nicely marked by
Moscow's Zarnitsa factory. Large Size 59 (US 7 3/8). Excellent condition.
Camouflage Visor Hat of KGB Border Guard, Airborne, and Special Forces, dated
1984. Size 57. A very uncommon piece from the Soviet Afghan War period in
used but excellent condition.
Classic Soviet Army "Afghanka" Field Cap, dated 1986. Size 58 (US size 7 ¼ /
Large). Unissued, in near mint condition. The cap became famous during the
occupation of Afghanistan where it was synonymous with the Soviet fighting man.
Syriyka Field Cap for desert climates, early model with very small visor, dated
1979. Originally used by Soviet advisors in Syria - hence its unofficial
nickname - this cap was later adopted by the Soviet Army for various places with
desert terrain including Afghanistan. Size 56 (US 7, Medium); unissued near mint
condition.
Hat Badge of Presidential Guard of President Najibullah, 1989-92. Extremely scarce
item used for a short time by the elite force protecting the president after the
Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan Excellent condition.
M 1941 Red Army field badge for a side cap, heavy, painted olive drab.
SVD Dragunov sniper rifle canvas cover, dated 1976. About 46" lengthwise,
54" folded. This piece from the early stage of the Soviet war in Afghanistan is
in unused VG / EXC condition.
