Medal for Valor, Type 2 Var. 3 (unnumbered Cold War version), late 1940s - early 1990s. Unlike the Combat Service Medal, Valor Medal (aka Medal for Bravery) was never issued simply for length of service. During the 1980s, quite a few of them were awarded for service in Afghanistan. In excellent condition and includes original suspension in brass.

60th Anniversary of the Moskovskiy Border Guard Unit, commemorative badge, 1992. Part of the former Soviet Central Asian Border Guard District (KSAPO), this unit remained on the Tajik-Afghan border following the dissolution of the USSR and was constantly engaged in action against infiltrating Muslim militants and narcotics smugglers. Although a post-USSR issue, the badge is very much Soviet in its design and execution.

GRU Spetsnaz Winter Uniform, dated 1977 / 76. Includes heavy tunic in olive drab with additional separate button-in padded liner and tsygeika lamb fur collar, plus matching pair of pants, also with detachable liner. Size 52-5 (Medium / Large). This is a rare, very early issue of the winter uniform which was later modified to become a well known Afghanka. Both the jacket and pants are in superb unissued condition, with manufacturer's tags.

Classic Soviet Army "Afghanka" Field Cap, dated 1986. Size 58 (US size 7 ¼ / Large). Unissued, in near mint condition. The cap became famous during the occupation of Afghanistan where it was synonymous with the Soviet fighting man.

Syriyka Field Cap for desert climates, early model with very small visor, dated 1979. Originally used by Soviet advisors in Syria - hence its unofficial nickname - this cap was later adopted by the Soviet Army for various places with desert terrain including Afghanistan. Size 56 (US 7, Medium); unissued near mint condition.
