Order of the Red Star, Type 2, Var. 2 (early transitional variation without a
mint mark and with single-tier screw post base), #1770, circa 1936. This is
the more rare of the two "no mint mark" sub-variations and in general, one of
the rarest of all Soviet awards : fewer than 165 of these were ever made. Very
fine to excellent condition.
Order of the Red Star, Type 4, Var. 1 Sub-var. 1, #12047, circa 1940. Note
the exceptionally low serial number: this piece is one of the first 50 "Monetnyi
Dvor" Red Stars ever made! In outstanding condition. An exceptional opportunity
for the advanced collector.
Order of the Red Star, Type 4 Var. 3, #67423, Nov. 1942 award for the Soviet
Counteroffensive at Stalingrad to a corporal, a
120-mm mortar crew commander of the 21st Army, Stalingrad Front. With his crew, he
killed a large number of enemy soldiers and greatly helped the advance of his unit
in the first days of the Operation
Uran . He had also been awarded with a Medal for Combat Service in the
first
weeks of the Battle of Stalingrad (both of his decorations are among the earliest
awarded for that battle.) The order is in Fine condition and comes with archival
research.
Order of the Red Star, Type 6, Var. 2 ("MZPP") Without a Mint Mark,
#1816307, c. early to mid-1945. An exceptionally rare piece from the first
series produced by the MZPP. VF to EXC condition.
Order of the Red Star, Type 6, Var. 2 ("MZPP"), #1927468, circa early to mid-1945.
A relatively scarce piece from the first series produced by the Moscow
Platinpribor Factory (MZPP). VF to EXC condition.
Order of the Red Star, Type 6, Var. 3, Sub-var. 1, #580790, awarded on 9 May 1944 to a company commander for leading an infantry assault and defending his hard-won position during the offensive that lifted the siege of Leningrad. During the previous month, he was also awarded with an Order of the Red Banner for another exceptionally bold assault that resulted in the capture of 8 concrete pillboxes, a large number of weapons, and 30 POWs. The order is a nice early piece in excellent condition. Comes with archival research.
Order of the Red Star, Type 6, Var. 3, Sub-var. 3, #1968138, c. mid- to late-1945. VF condition.
Order of the Red Star, Type 6, Var. 3, Sub-var. 4 ("MZPP"), #2090049, circa early
to mid-1945. A relatively scarce version produced by the Moscow Platinpribor
Factory (MZPP). This pieceis particularly interesting: it has a factory flaw, a
missing part of the center medallion border. In very fine condition.
Order of the Red Star, Type 7, Var. 1, #3115622, c. 1952. Uncommon version
featuring a narrow 20-mm medallion unique to this version of the order. This
specimen is especially interesting: its serial number is slightly outside the
range for its version shown in the Strekalov reference guide. In excellent
condition.
