Order of the Red Star, Type 6, Variation 3, Sub-variation 4 ("MZPP"), #2090049, circa early to mid-1945 issue.

In silver and enamels; measures 46.8 mm in height, 48.7 mm in height; weighs 33.0 g without the screw plate.

This relatively scarce variation was manufactured at the Moscow Platinpribor Factory (MZPP); the order is from the second MZPP series which was manufactured in 1945 and has the serial number range from 2050000 - 2300000. It features characteristically sloppy serial number engraving and very small font of the "Monetnyi Dvor" mint mark. The "extension" of the soldier's bayonet in the center medallion "punctures" the inner ring of the medallion and reaches to the letter "O" of the last word of the slogan.

This is a particularly interesting specimen with a factory flaw: a completely missing portion of the raised inner border of the center medallion in approximately 3 to 4 o'clock segment. Such defects are very uncommon, although some other specimens with similar flaws from the same MZPP series have been observed. To reiterate, the missing border is definitely a factory flaw, not a result of wear.

Very fine condition. The enamel shows a beautiful luster. There is only a single tiny surface flake at the tip of the lower left arm and a few minuscule contact marks to the same arm, all of it barely noticeable. There are also a few microscopic contact marks elsewhere that are completely invisible without magnification.

There is only minimal wear to the center medallion; its raised details remain well-preserved and crisp. Attractive toning to silver on both sides. The screw post is full length, nearly 12.5 mm, and includes an original WW2 era screw plate.
