Order of the Patriotic War 1st cl., Type 1, Var. 2 (w. stick-pin), #5221, April
1943 issue to a AAA squadron commander for shooting down 6 and damaging 2 German
airplanes, most
of them during the Battle of Stalingrad. His task was mainly
protecting the railways bringing vital supplies to Stalingrad from the north. VF
to EXC condition, very rare for this version of the order. Comes with archival
research.
Order of the Patriotic War 1st cl., Type 2 Var. 2, #302876, awarded
posthumously in November 1943 to an infantry platoon commander. In four days
of fighting in eastern Belorussia during the previous month, he with his platoon
repelled 7 German counterattacks, personally killed 30 enemy soldiers, and was
himself killed while leading an infantry assault and shouting "Forward for
Stalin!". The decoration was given for safekeeping to his widow long after the war
and is in near mint condition. Before his last battle, this valiant soldier was
recommended for a Hero Star for his actions in the Battle of Kursk, but
instead received an Order of the Red Banner. Comes with archival research.
Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd cl., Type 1, Var. 3, #19613,
awarded in June 1943 to a military topographer of the
Southwestern Front for his contribution in building fortified
defense lines. A highly unusual award recommendation! The
order has not been re-converted and includes complete
original suspension device. In fine overall condition, an
attractive piece despite some enamel damage and repair.

Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd cl, Type 2, early "Starback" variation
(Krasnokamsk Mint), #65161, Feb. 1944 issue to the Chief of Artillery of a rifle
regiment. During Operation Iskra ("Spark") which broke the siege of
Leningrad, he reconnoitered German positions and personally commanded one of the
squadrons, wiping out enemy weapon emplacements and personnel. A beautiful and
uncommon piece in VF / EXC condition; includes original silver screw plate. Comes
with archival research.
Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd cl., Type 2, Krasnokamsk Mint "Starback", #244720,
Aug. 1944 award to a lieutenant in the 10th Guards Kuban Cossack Cavalry
Division, one of the most illustrious of all Soviet cavalry units. He showed
audacity and skills while leading machine gun squadrons at Slutsk and Baranovichi
during the Bagration Offensive in Belorussia. EXC condition; includes archival
research.
Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd cl., Type 2, Leningrad Mint "Concave Reverse"
version without mint mark, #105690, August 1944. Only a few dozen of
this exceptionally rare variation were made. The recipient, an ethnic Armenian
artilleryman NCO, earned the award in fighting in Pskov region near the Latvian
border. VF condition. Includes archival research.
Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd cl., Type 2, by MZPP factory, #666715, w. a screw
post base added by the original manufacturer, c. early 1945. An extremely
interesting and rare piece: only a few other such MZPP specimens have been
observed, all in the same, very small serial number range. VF condition.
Order of the Patriotic War 2nd cl., Type 3, #6540243, with a
document and original issue box, 1989. A very uncommon
special issue to a foreigner, apparently a Czech
national. The document has facsimile signature of Mikhail
Gorbachev and differs in many other details from the common
1985 version. The award and order booklet are in near mint
condition.
