Engineers / Special Troops Officer Service Visor Hat, circa early 1980s.

The crown is in olive drab gabardine with black cloth band and red piping. Includes an officer chin cord in metallic filigree and officer service cockade. The sweat shield once had a logo of the manufacturer, but it is now illegible. The size is approximately a European 56 (approx. US size 7 / Medium).

Very good to excellent condition. The crown has several very minor snags and tiny, barely noticeable moth tracks but no significant wear or serious moth damage. The piping and band are perfect. The exterior is immaculately clean, while the liner shows some mild sweat stains

The exterior is immaculately clean, while the liner shows some mild sweat stains that are not detractive and visible only at a close inspection. The visor is free of scuffs. The hat has kept its shape perfectly over the past decades. An attractive example.

Note that this type of hat with a black cloth band for Engineer / Special Troops officers was abolished in 1982 in favor of a velvet band, same as used by the Armored Corps. Therefore, it is somewhat less common than many of the other officer visor hats of the late Soviet era.
