Military photo ID of Sergeant Pavel Kozlov (Павел Васильевич Козлов), issued 27 February 1948.
Measures 3 ¼" x 4 ¼", in red oilcloth-bound cover. The front cover features the Soviet military star on top with "USSR" split in two on both sides of it. Below is the inscription "Military ID" in large capital letters, followed by "Ministry of the Armed Forces of the USSR, 1946" at the bottom.
In excellent condition, showing just minimal wear to the oilcloth of the cover. The ID photo is in excellent condition; the internal pages show barely noticeable fraying to the edges, otherwise are clean. All the printed and handwritten text, seals, stamps and signatures are crisp and clear, perfectly legible.
The document states that Kozlov did his mandatory service in the Red Army from 1933 to 1935, was discharged to reserve, then was re-mobilized in August 1941, fought as a paratrooper rifleman with the 11th Paratrooper Brigade until November, then served in the same capacity with the SMERSH Counterintelligence Department, 6th Paratrooper Corps. From July 1942 until the end of the war Kozlov served as Deputy Squad Commander with SMERSH Department, 40th Rifle Division. He participated in the Battle of Stalingrad and capture of Vienna, but never received any decorations besides campaign medals.
