Soviet Union Review monthly propaganda magazine published in the USA, Vol. VIII, # 4, Apr. 1930.

Measures 8 ½" x 11", 14 pp. excluding the covers, printed on high-quality coated paper. Published by the Soviet Information Bureau in Washington, DC. Circulation unknown. English text. The USSR State Emblem on the front cover has six scrolls by the number of socialist republics comprising the Soviet Union at that time. Whatever the subject covered in the magazine's articles, the factor uniting them all is that they describe how wonderful, progressive, and efficient socialism is on paper. When you don't mention millions starved to death, deported, tortured, or executed, socialism does look great when you read the Soviet double-speak. Orwell had wonderful source material to read up for his 1984.

In very good condition. The front cover has a small missing piece to the right edge, ditto the bottom right-hand corner. The fold line shows partial separations at the head and foot. The binding staples are tight and strong but a little rusty, so perhaps removing them, repairing the separations and re-stapling the magazine would be a quick and easy way to prolong its very good condition. About half of the page space shows a faint water stain that does not obscure any text and is not too detractive.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
