Pocketbook sized, 5" x 6 ½", paperback, 126 pp., published by VOENIZDAT, Publishers of Military Literature, circulation unknown. Illustrated with drawings and period photos of locations where combat took place. Also contains 14 photo portraits, 13 of which are of artillery officers who were given Hero of the Soviet Union for their actions in that war. Which the Soviet Union, by and large, lost. Finland ceded 9% of its territory to the USSR but won a huge moral victory.

In very good to excellent condition. The spine is missing, but the binding threads and glue hold the book together very well, so a quick and easy repair with a length of cloth or even paper to replace the spine will give the book many more years of life.

The illustrations and portraits of actual participants of that war lend the stories a strong scent of credibility. Unless, that is, the reader is knowledgeable about the actual facts of the Winter War, giving the book a very different scent.
