Medal (Badge) in Commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of the Lifting of the Blockade of Leningrad, 2009.

In brass. The medallion is 32.0 mm wide. The obverse shows the Admiralty building with its trademark spire and sailing ship weathervane, perhaps the most recognizable Leningrad / St. Petersburg landmark, and antitank obstacles in front of it. On the reverse is an inscription "In Honor of the 65th Anniversary of the Full Relief of Leningrad from the Fascist Blockade". It is interesting to see that even decades after the collapse of the USSR, the Nazis are still referred to as "Fascists" (due to the Soviet-era fear of evoking any negativity towards the word socialism - as in "National Socialism").

The brass suspension has the same ribbon as the Medal for the Defense of Leningrad. Albeit a post-Soviet issue, this badge is very much in style of similar Soviet-era veteran badges - and better made than most of those.

Excellent condition. This commemorative award can be a nice addition to the collection that already includes a WW2 Medal for the Defense of Leningrad.
