3 ½" x 4 ¾", printed on matte photo paper. The obverse presents an Air Force Senior Sergeant in uniform. The image is artistically enhanced with graphics and a vignette background, something skilled amateur Soviet photographers did sometimes for "special occasions". The photo is exceptionally well made in terms of exposure, composition, sharpness of focus, and details of the graphic enhancements.

The verso has a handwritten dedication from the person on the photo, Sr. Sgt. Samoylov (Самойлов), regimental clerk with the 44th Fighter Aviation Regiment, to a pilot, Lomov (Ломов), adjutant to the regiment commander. The inscription reads, somewhat unexpectedly, "To a senior comrade in arms and in work, for sincere feelings and relationship". Dated 6 March 1942.

In excellent condition. The image is pristine, the paper is very lightly creased along the right-side edge, more felt with fingers than seen with eyes.

This photo will make an interesting addition to a collection of WW2 photos, both in terms of the excellent opportunity it presents for studying the details of the uniform and insignia, and in terms of the artistry of the print.
