Medal for Victory over Japan, Variation 2, 1940s - early 50s.

In brass; 32.2 mm wide; weighs 16.8 g not including the suspension and connecting link.

In excellent condition. The medallion is essentially pristine: it is completely free of any wear visible to the naked eye and has only a few microscopic contact marks that can be found under a 10x magnification. The details of Stalin's bas-relief and lettering are perfect and exceptionally crisp. Aside from a couple of tiny and faint, barely noticeable oxidation spots, the toning to the brass is perfectly even, while some of the original "gilt" mint luster is visible on recessed areas, especially on the reverse.

Comes on original suspension device, a single-layer model in brass. The relatively recent, lightly used ribbon is clean and sound. To summarize, an outstanding example of the Victory over Japan Medal.
