Excellent Rifleman Badge, 1953-1957.

Brass, enamels; measures 36.2 mm in height, 45.7 mm in width; weighs 14.2 g not including the screw plate. The "Classic Flat" variation (also referred to as "Second Unified" variation) according to the Airapetyan classification, manufactured by the Pobeda Factory.

In excellent condition. The enamel appears practically perfect to the naked eye, showing a beautiful luster and having only a couple of minuscule flakes in the white band that are practically unnoticeable without magnification. The details of the artwork are perfect and exceptionally crisp. The gold finish is pristine and extremely bright on both sides of the badge. The fragile gray finish on the top ornament and edge of the shield is almost completely intact. The screw post is full length, approx. 11 mm, and includes an original Pobeda Factory screw plate.

Established in 1947, this was one of the two badges of the Proficiency series that came up after the war. This particular example is from the 50s, produced during the last years before the cancellation of the service-specific awards of the proficiency series in 1957. It is in truly superb condition, literally impossible to upgrade.
