In aluminum, with artwork printed on metal foil and coated in plastic. Very large size: measures 52.9 x 43.9 mm. The center has "recycled" artwork: same as the Warsaw Pact 25th anniversary badge from 1980 but with the writing "Warsaw Pact" at the bottom. The writing on blue is "20th Anniversary of the Military Council of the Joint Military Forces, 1969- 1989, 40th Conference, City of Warsaw".

Excellent, near mint condition.

This badge was issued to one of the high ranking commanders of the Warsaw Pact invited to the conference just as the Eastern Bloc was about to fall apart. A very scarce and unusual piece.
