Chinese made AK-47 chest pouch, in unissued condition.
The so-called "Lifchiki" (bra) was used by both sides in Afghanistan, dated 1983. Fits three standard AK-47 clips, plus pouches for four grenades. Made from durable olive drab canvas and webbing. Each pocket closes with a wood toggle button, and the shoulder harness is adjustable for size. One of the pocket flaps has minor mildew from storage.

These practical chest pouches were first encountered by Soviet troops on killed and captured counterrevolutionary forces. Apparently, insurgents obtained them in Pakistan where the Chinese exported them as surplus. Due to the superiority of these chest pouches over their issued belt pouches, Soviet troops commonly liberated them for their own use. Soviets also field-made copies of these.

These distinctive pouches are an essential piece of combat kit for a complete Soviet soldier serving in Afghanistan.
