Real Photo Postcard Showing a Large Public Demonstration of Sailors, 1917.
Measures 5 ½" x 3 ½", printed on glossy photo paper with the verso lined for use as a postcard. The photo shows a large public demonstration, apparently in or near a major port city or naval base. The head of the column has a brass band, and is walking under a huge banner reading "Strength is in unity. On the ruins of the overthrown kingdom, empowered by unity, we will construct the beautiful building of Freedom, Equality and Brotherhood". Judging by the last phrase on the banner, the demonstration must have been organized by the local Sailors' Club as a propagandistic event. Interesti

On the ruins of the overthrown kingdom, empowered by unity, we will construct the beautiful building of Freedom, Equality and Brotherhood". Judging by the last phrase on the banner, the demonstration must have been organized by the local Sailors' Club as a propagandistic event. Interestingly, several boys are present, some of them with some kind of paper ID's or badges, also worn by many of the sailors.
In very good condition. The image is somewhat underexposed, so that, unfortunately, the lettering on the sailors' tallies is unreadable. A small area of emulsion under the banner is scratched off. The corners have small creases and bumps; tilting the photo to reflect a bright light reveals minor scuffing which is practically invisible when looking at it at a normal viewing angle. The verso is moderately soiled and unmarked.
Please note that the penny in our photo is for size reference.
