The fleece lining is fully intact and sound, not shedding, and has none of the usual threadbare spots. The leather retaining strap is intact and fully functional, with its chrome-plated steel buckle having only a minimal amount of oxidation. The small hook on the edge of the flap on the opposite side of the strap is missing but should be easy to replace if desired (it was designed to secure the strap in place under the pilot's chin and is not critical for the functionality of the helmet, nor is it visible when the helmet is on display.) The earphone covers are completely intact with both snap buttons present and fully functional; their original red enamel paint is almost entirely intact - an uncommon case, as it is typically worn out on the surviving examples of WW2 Soviet pilot's helmets. The straps for the goggles on the back of the helmet on the front are also present and likewise include fully functional buttons.
Displayed on a mannequin head, this helmet will make a superb addition to a collection of WW2 aviation or headgear. Pilot helmets of this type rarely come in such a nice condition.
