The total size is 6" x 9 ¾" including the cardboard backing; the image size is approx. 4" x 6", printed on matte photo paper. The photo presents a Red Army infantry major in winter overcoat and the legendary budyonovka soft helmet. The red star hat badge is affixed to the helmet over a large cloth red star. The inscription on the verso gives us the exact age, military unit, and location of the officer, reading "12 March 1929, 35 years and 6 ½ months. Rzhev, Tver Region, 142nd Tver Regiment."
