In silver; measures 58.2 mm in height incl. eyelet, 51.5 mm in width; weighs 57.0 g not including the ribbon and connecting link. The bas- relief of Emperor Nicholas II is executed with extraordinary precision and skill. The raised inscription on the obverse is "B[y the] G[race of God] Nicholas II, Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia". Unlike the second version of the medal by the engraver Vasyutinsky, this variation by Vasyutinskiy and Klenov does not show the name of the engraver on the reverse.

In excellent condition. The raised points of the bas-relief portrait show practically no detectable wear; the details of the portrait - including individual strands of hair - are nearly pristine and exceptionally crisp. The florals on the reverse and lettering on both sides of the medal are perfect. There are only a few tiny, barely noticeable scratches and contact marks to the recessed field, while the original mint luster is still clearly visible throughout. The raised borders of the medallion are completely free of bumps or dings. Attractive light toning to silver throughout.

The medal comes on an original full-length neck ribbon of the Order of St. Stanislaus in moiré silk, including the original strings to tie it on the back; it measures no less than 35 cm (12") long not including the end ties and 4.5 cm wide. The ribbon is nicely preserved and clean, showing only a minimal wear in the center where it gathers into a bow to fit into the connecting link. The link in unmarked silver appears to be of the period and is probably original to the medal.

Please note, the penny in our photo is for size reference.
