Japan, Order of the Golden Kite, 4th class, in original fitted case of issue, 1937-47.

Gold-plated silver, enamels. Measures 49.7 mm in height (incl. eyelet), 45.9 mm in width. The ribbon and rosette appear to be original. Very well-made piece. Comes with the original black lacquered wooden box of issue with velvet fitted pad for the order, and includes a miniature rosette, apparently to be worn as a lapel pin. The order comes with a two-fold ribbon featuring a 21.6 mm rosette, established in 1937.

The Order of the Golden Kite was established by Imperial Prescript of February 12, 1890. It was bestowed upon persons who had rendered distinguished military service. The order was abolished by Government Ordinance in 1947.
