Medal for Restoration of the Ferrous Metallurgy of the South, late 1940s - early 50s.

In brass; measures 37.0 mm in height incl. eyelet, 32.2 mm wide; weighs 17.7 g not including the suspension and connecting link.

In outstanding, excellent condition. The medal is completely free of wear visible to the naked eye and has only a few microscopic contact marks. The raised details are perfect and crisp on both sides. The original "gilt" mint luster is practically pristine and extremely bright on the obverse, while the reverse shows a very minimal amount of tarnish that adds character, no significant blemishes or oxidation spots. The medal comes on a period suspension device, a single-layer model in brass with integral catch of the pin. The perfectly preserved ribbon is old, possibly original to the medal. The connecting link appears to be of the period as well.
