Medal for the Defense of Leningrad, Variation 1, 1940s issue.

Brass, 32.1 mm wide; weighs 16.8 g not including the suspension and connecting link. Late sub-variation of the Variation 1 featuring a "long" horizon.

In very fine condition. The medallion is free of edge knocks. The obverse shows many tiny dings and a minor amount of wear to the high points of the artwork, but the details are still well-preserved overall. The artwork and lettering on the reverse is essentially perfect and exceptionally crisp. The toning to the brass is overall nice and even, having only a few minor oxidation spots, mostly on the reverse and not really det

Comes on an original WW2 era suspension, a two-layer model in steel with self-locking pin. The well-preserved ribbon is old, although probably not of the same vintage as the medal itself. The connecting link has been cut but appears to be original or at least of the period.
