Silver gilt, enamels; measures 46.0 mm in height (incl. eyelet and lower extensions of the torch and flagpole), 37.4 mm in width; weighs 24.1 g not including the suspension and connecting link. Manufactured by the Moscow Mint in 1945. Features curved down mint mark in relatively small font, with a curved dash over the last character in the word "Monetnyi".

In outstanding, excellent condition - among the best WW2-era specimens of this award we have offered in recent years. The enamel, and in particular the red enamel on the banner, shows magnificent luster and appears essentially perfect to the unaided eye. A careful examination with a 10x loupe reveals a few minuscule contact marks on the banner and a couple of surface flakes on the red scroll, but all of them are practically invisible without magnification.

The details of the wreath, flagpole and torch are perfect and crisp; the original gold plating is pristine and exceptionally bright throughout. There is a very attractive even patina to silver on the reverse. Comes on original suspension device, a WW2 two-layer model in steel with self-locking pin. The ribbon is relatively recent, although it shows some age and minimal wear. The connecting link appears to be original; its ends are still joined with solder. To summarize, this is an exceptionally well-preserved and attractive piece - for a WW2 era award, hard to match.
