To the left is the Virgin Mary, Mother of God the Theotokos with the title abbreviated in Greek letters to either side of the halo. On the right stands John the Baptist with Ionna spelled out in Cyrillic letters. His rough clothes identify him as the "prophet crying out in the wilderness". Both the Theotokos and the Baptist incline their heads and raise their hands in gestures of worship to the Christ.
In very good to excellent condition. The icon is completely free of significant dings or scratches. There is only very minimal wear to the high points of the artwork; most of its details remain extremely well-defined and crisp. The hinges are perfectly sound. Attractive even toning to the brass without blemishes. A magnificent piece through and through!
