Excellent Railway Engineer / Locomotive Mechanic Badge, late 1940s - early 1950s.

Brass, enamels. Measures 38.7 mm tall from the bottom to the highest point of the flag, 26.5 mm wide. Features relatively flat central portion, making a less pronounced step from the oval border to the wreath.

In very fine to excellent condition. The enamel is very well preserved, completely free of the usual chips or significant flaking. The red enamel on the banner has minor amount of rubbing and a couple of tiny contact marks, otherwise perfect. The red enamel on the plaque at the bottom is perfect, and so is the white enamel in the center.

The raised points of the locomotive show only minimal wear; its details are overall nicely preserved. Original silver finish on the reverse is almost completely intact. The screw post is of full length, over 12 mm, and includes original screw plate marked "ShM Z-D MPS."
