In outstanding, excellent condition - the best example we have handled in years. The monograms and crowns, as well as the raised lettering on both sides are essentially pristine and exceptionally crisp. Beside a couple of microscopic dings to the raised edge, the medal shows no wear visible even under a 10x magnification. The brass exhibits light and attractive toning at raised points, while the original "gilt" mint luster is extremely well-preserved and bright in recessed areas throughout; there are no blemishes or oxidation spots. The medal comes with a connecting link that appears to be of the period and believed to be original to the medal.

To summarize, a superb example of the combatant's version of the Crimea Medal - literally impossible to upgrade. Est. 1856, this medal was officially known in Russia as the Medal for the Eastern War. The light bronze medal was awarded to all military ranks who had taken part in combat in all theaters of the war.
