Vatican, Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Knight Commander with Star, includes breast star and lapel pin, in original fitted issue case.

Breast Star. Silver gilt, enamels, 87.4 mm in height, 87.0 mm in width, weighs 60.1 g. The reverse is silver, with two pin and clasp attachments. Very fine condition. The star is pristine; the pins on the reverse are slightly bent but still functional.

Lapel pin. Silver gilt, enamels, mounted in a rosette 12.7 mm in diameter, with maker-marked Ballou Reg'd butterfly clutch-style pin attachment. Comes with a length of black silk tape. In excellent condition.

Issue case. Measures approx. 16 x 12.5 x 3 cm (6.3 x 5 x 1.2"), in wood, laminated in textured

Inside, lined with champagne-colored silk, with a soft pad for the star. In excellent condition, no wear to report except for the slightest storage wear to the bottom of the box.

The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem was originally instituted in 1099, its modern version in 1847. It is a Roman Catholic order of knighthood under the protection of the Holy See. It is conferred on Catholics, men and women alike, in recognition of their dedication and services to the Church, and the aid rendered by them to Jerusalem, be it philanthropic or monetary. It continues to be awarded nowadays to charitable active Catholics who have worked to protect Jerusalem.
