Civil Aviator Next to His Airplane, circa mid- to late 1930s.
Measures approx. 3 x 4", printed on thin glossy photo paper. At first glance, the man looks like an Air Force pilot but a close look with a loupe reveals star-shaped rank pips on his collar tabs, insignia of ГВФ (GVF, Civil Aviation Fleet). A very uncommon photo!
In very good to excellent condition. The corners show almost-disappeared creases left by the slits that used to hold the photo in an album. The image is in sharp focus providing a nice opportunity to have a close look at the visible part of the airplane engine and the details of the pilot's attire. There

The image is in sharp focus providing a nice opportunity to have a close look at the visible part of the airplane engine and the details of the pilot's attire. There is a tiny rip to the edge at 7 o'clock, not reaching the image and not very intrusive to the eye. The verso is free of soiling but has a line of dried glue and some notation in pencil, irrelevant on the back side of the photo.
