The enamel on the suspension device is perfect, which is very uncommon for the early version of the medal: there are none of the usual flaking, rubbing or scratches. The details of the medallion are likewise perfect and exceptionally crisp. The original "gilt" mint luster is extremely well-preserved and bright on both sides with just a very minor amount of light tarnish that adds character, free of significant oxidation or blemishes.

Overall, a really superb example of the early version of the Motherhood Medal.
