Letter Home from a Hungarian Soldier in a Siberian POW Camp, 1917.

The size is standard 5 ½" x 3 ½", in cardboard-thick unbleached paper. Special issue for correspondence with prisoners of war. The left-side panel on the obverse is handwritten by the POW, and identifies his name and the location he was interned at: Mariinsk District, Tomsk Region. The message on the verso is addressed to the POW's mother living in Budapest, and is written in German.

In excellent condition. Both sides are free of any significant soiling, the corner bumps are minuscule, the vertical fold line in the center is completely flattened out and is barely visible. The rect

The rectangular stamp on the obverse is too faint to be legible but the Mariinsk postal cancellation stamp is legible and provides the date, 11 January 1917. All the printed and handwritten text is crisp and perfectly legible.
