3 ¼" x 4 ¼", printed on thin glossy photo paper. The obverse presents an officer in field uniform, wearing lieutenant's pips in his collar tabs. The handwritten military archival entry on the verso identifies him as politruk (political officer, rank equal to lieutenant) Ignatov (Игнатов). The entry is dated 15 November 1942, right in the middle of the Battle of Stalingrad which lasted from 17 July 1942 to 2 February 1943. On that particular date, Ignatov's 41st Rifle Regiment of the 84th Rifle Division was on offensive in the vicinity of

In good to very good condition. The photo shows several contact points, some of which (top and bottom left) penetrate through the emulsion to the paper whereas other, much smaller ones, can be seen only when tilting the photo to reflect a bright light. The wear looks much worse on the photos than in reality. The image is in very sharp focus, providing an excellent opportunity to have a close look at the uniform and insignia.
