Group photo of cadets of the 12th Mogilyov Artillery School for RKKA Commanders, 1922.

Measures 11 ½" x 7 ½" total, the image size is approx. 8" x 6". Printed on matte photo paper and affixed to a cardboard backing. As stated in the inscription to the left of the photo, it depicts a group, probably a class, of cadets of the 12th Mogilyov Artillery School for RKKA Commanders (the word "officers" was one of the "old regime terms" abolished by the Bolsheviks at that time). The inscription on the back of the cardboard backing says "For good, good memory, to Misha from his friends" followed by the friends' signatures, date (8 November 1922), place (the city of Mogilyov), and the name of the school.

In very good condition. The photo is a bit overexposed but is in sharp focus providing a nice opportunity to study the RKKA uniforms of that period. The emulsion is mostly unbroken, showing only minuscule chips along the right edge. The cardboard backing is slightly warped because of the glue used to affix the photo. The lower right-hand corner is missing, the other three corners show various degrees of wear. Six holes, evidently left by nails, are not too intrusive to the eye. The ink of the inscriptions on the back is bright, the wording perfectly legible. Four of the signatures are either faded or made using watered-down ink.

Please note that the pen in our photo is for size reference.
