In excellent working condition. At the end of our 24-hour test, the watch was still running and was only about 1 minute ahead. Some maintenance service and movement adjustment appear to be due and will likely fix the precision issue. In terms of appearance, the watch is in very good condition. There is some wear to the nickel plating, mostly on the crown side of the case, but it retains most of its luster. Wear to the acrylic crystal, inconspicuous as it is to the naked eye, appears to be congruent with the wear to the case, suggesting that the crystal may be original.

The Chistopol Watch Factory was based on the Second Moscow Watch Factory evacuated at the beginning of WW2 to the city of Chistopol in Tatarstan, then Tatar ASSR. Once set up in Chistopol, the factory began working for the war effort, manufacturing scopes for mortars, detonators, etc., but in 1943 resumed making wristwatches. In 1957, the factory began production of high-precision wristwatches Vostok, Mir, Volna, Saturn, and Kosmos.

In 1962, the Vostok wristwatch won the Grand Prix at the Leipzig International Exhibition. Starting in 1969, all lines of wristwatches manufactured at the factory were branded Vostok, and the factory was officially named the Vostok Chistopol Watch Factory.

The Vostok brand survived the bankruptcy of the factory in 2010, and the subsequent reorganization, and is now very much alive as the largest manufacturer of wristwatches in Russia.
