Medal for the Liberation of Prague, Variation 1, circa 1945-47.

In brass; 32.1 mm wide; weighs 17.0 g not including the suspension and connecting link.

In excellent condition. The medallion shows only a few tiny contact marks, mostly on the reverse and all of them practically unnoticeable to the naked eye. There is no significant wear or flaws; the raised details on both sides are exceptionally well-preserved and crisp. The toning on the obverse is perfectly even, while the reverse has a slightly uneven patina that adds character. There are no significant blemishes.

Comes on an original suspension device, an early post-war two-layer model in steel and brass with an integral catch of the pin. The old, possibly original ribbon shows wear along the edges but is still sound, clean and overall very attractive. The connecting link appears to be of the period.

A very attractive example of the Variation 1 Prague Medal.
