The reverse has a couple of tiny scratches, otherwise essentially pristine. Traces of the original "gilt" mint luster are visible in recessed areas around the lettering, especially on the obverse. The toning to brass is uniform and attractive free of significant tarnish or blemishes.

Comes on a late-1940s suspension device, a single-layer model in brass. The ribbon is old but nicely preserved and sound. Overall, a very attractive example of the early version of the Victory over Japan Medal.
