M 1968 VDV Airborne beret, dated 1990.

In sky blue wool, with triangular red flash on the left side with airborne insignia. Comes with enlisted man's hat badge. The hat includes the black elastic band necessary to keep it from blowing away at the wrong moment during a parade. The sweat band in ersatz leather has a drawstring for size adjustment. The sweat diamond shows a (19)90 date of manufacture, a manufacture's logo, and the name of the factory identified only as "Establishment" with a serial number - a curious feature indicating that it was probably a prison labor factory. Marked Size 55 on the liner (US size

Excellent condition. The wool has a few miniscule moth tracks to the nap visible only at very close inspection, no moth holes, bites or active moth problem. Both the interior and exterior are immaculately clean and free of wear. The blue wool and the lining are, for lack of a better word, quite "supple". Some Soviet berets we've seen are made of fabric so very stiff that it's no surprise that they never settled into a good-looking shape. Unlike those, this one will display nicely.
