Voroshilov Marksman badge, OSOAVIAKhIM issue, 2nd level, 1934 - 1941.

In bronze-plated and silver-plated steel and enamels. Measures 38.9 mm in height, 32.5 mm in width. Two-piece construction: the Roman numeral "II" is a separate superimposed part.

In outstanding, excellent condition - extremely uncommon for this badge. Both red and white enamels are exceptionally well preserved, free of even the microscopic contact marks. The red enamel in particular shows very attractive luster. The details of the soldier and wreath are perfect and exceptionally crisp, free of any pitting almost always found on the Voroshilov Marksman badges due to corrosion of the underlaying steel. Nor is there any of the typical wear to the raised points such as the rifle and soldier's elbow; not only the original bronze "primer" finish, but also the fragile silver plating on the soldier, wreath and cogwheel are entirely intact. The silver plating on the reverse is likewise perfect. The screw post is full or near full length, over 9 mm, and includes original screw plate in bronze- and silver-plated steel with the factory logo "MOAKh" and stamped serial number 276095. This is a truly superb piece, likely the best of the 2nd level badges we have handled and for all intents and purposes, impossible to upgrade.
