Field Camouflage Visor Hat of Border Guards, Airborne Units, and Special Forces under the KGB Command, dated 1984.
In cotton of darker and lighter olive-green splotches in "computer patter" camo. The fabric is far sturdier and of noticeably better quality than that of the more common light-weight KLMK camo berets, two-piece suits, and coveralls. The crown is soft, while the visor is semi-rigid. Chin cord in green plastic and side buttons painted green are of the same model as found on regular officer field visor hats of the period. The liner shows a logo of the Headgear Factory in the city of Volgograd (formerly known as Stalingrad) with a 1984 date of manufacture. Next to the factory logo is a stamped size 57, equivalent to US Size 7 1/8 / Medium.
The hat is in excellent condition, although it shows evidence of use - this is not an unissued example. There are no tears or excessive wear of any kind. The crown is overall very clean, showing only some tiny spots visible at close inspection. The visor is perfect. The soft oilcloth sweat band shows a minor amount of wear only, still intact and sound. The liner is immaculately clean; the manufacturer's logo fully legible.
