Brass, enamels; medallion measures 32.1 mm wide. The obverse shows the USSR and Afghan national flags. The reverse has the writing "From the Grateful Afghan People" in Russian and Dari.
In excellent condition. The enamel is perfect. The gilt finish is bright and free of blemishes; there is a minor amount of light tarnish on the reverse that does not detract. Includes the original unmarked screw plate. The old, clearly original ribbon is perfectly clean.
