The reverse is in excellent condition.
The sash is in green moiré silk, 102 mm in width, with two 12-mm wide golden edges 5 mm away from the edge of the sash. The sash is clean throughout, the luster of the gold paint of the edges has partly dulled and shows multiple tiny chips, not too intrusive to the eye against the large sash. Overall, the sash presents well.
The Order of Jose Cecilio Del Valle was established on 3 October, 1957, to be conferred upon Hondurans and foreigners in recognition of distinguished service to the nation, promotion of peace and international solidarity, and achievements in science and the arts. The order was modified and regulated in 1978.
Jose Cecilio Del Valle (1777 - 1834) was a philosopher, lawyer, and politician, who authored the Central American Declaration of Independence
from Spanish rule, and was greatly revered for his great multi-faceted contribution to the development and progress of Honduras and the entire
Central America.
