The Grand Cross sash badge.Silver gilt, enamels, 64.7 mm in height (incl. the star on the eyelet), 50.6 mm in width, weighs 33.4 g. Very fine condition, showing just a tiny chip to the blue enamel at the southern tip of South America. The reverse is in excellent condition, showing just a couple of insignificant hair-thin scratches in the center.

The Grand Cross Star. Silver gilt, enamels, 76.0 mm in height, 74.9 mm in width, weighs 76.0 g. The reverse is silver gilt with a 67.1- mm long pin assembly and two prongs. Fine condition: a chip to the blue enamel on the Atlantic side of Central America, and a couple of barely noticeable hairlines to the blue enamel to the east of South America. The reverse is in excellent condition.

The sash is in green moiré silk, 102 mm in width, with two 12-mm wide golden edges 5 mm away from the edge of the sash. The sash is clean throughout, the luster of the gold paint of the edges has partly dulled and shows multiple tiny chips, not too intrusive to the eye against the large sash. Overall, the sash presents well.

The Order of Jose Cecilio Del Valle was established on 3 October, 1957, to be conferred upon Hondurans and foreigners in recognition of distinguished service to the nation, promotion of peace and international solidarity, and achievements in science and the arts. The order was modified and regulated in 1978.

Jose Cecilio Del Valle (1777 - 1834) was a philosopher, lawyer, and politician, who authored the Central American Declaration of Independence from Spanish rule, and was greatly revered for his great multi-faceted contribution to the development and progress of Honduras and the entire Central America.
