In good to very good condition. The cover has acquired a bit of discoloration along the edges due to prolonged exposure to light as well as very minor corner bumps and small separations at the top and bottom of the fold. Binding is provided by two staples and is very tight even though the staples are somewhat rusty. The color plate with Gorky's portrait is holding fast and shows just a very small rip on the right side towards the top along with evidence of two long-since-flattened-out creases. The internal pages are well preserved, showing only slight curling or creasing at the corners, very light age toning and a few barely noticeable smudges left by human fingers.
This issue of Creativity opens with a reprint of a creative article from the Pravda> calling for finding out and eliminating enemies of the people and traitors of the Motherland. To be expected in a 1937 Soviet publication. Only then it tackles the subject of the greatest master of Socialist Realism among the Soviet writers, Maxim Gorky (pseudonym of Alexey Maksimovich Peshkov), and his portrayal in the Soviet visual arts.
The second half of the journal reports on the personal exhibition of the great Russian painter Ivan Kramskoy in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
