The crown is in olive drab wool blend twill, with a black velvet band and red piping. Includes the appropriate black plastic chin cord and officer service cockade. The sweat shield has the logo of the Komintern Factory Gomel - a relatively uncommon maker - showing a 1981 date of manufacture and Size 59 (US 7 3/8 / Large). There is a factory quality control stamp in blue ink on the underside of the sweat band.

Both the visor and chin cord are slightly warped as is often the case but not enough to make it visually detractive. The hat kept its form perfectly, not squished in storage. There is only minimal wear to the sweat band, with no staining or tears.
A very nice example of a Soviet tanker's hat from the early Afghan War period.
